Lazada Malaysia review & personal shopping experience

Dear all,

As we have read so many complaints on this Lazada online store which is a daughter company of the German based Rocket Internet GmbH on how slow the delivery was, the customer service & etc., I've decided to try this online store myself by purchasing myself a Razer Deathadder which I always wanted. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy reading my shopping experience with them.

So let me introduce myself first. My name is JJ, I'm a gadget freak, a G-shock collector, cannivore, beer tank, and a dare devil. I can go on and on with the list, but let's just cut it short, I love spending money. Haha. Just joking.

Now that you've known a bit of myself, do drop me an email at here if you have any articles recommendations of would like to be featured on my very own little blog. No spam emails please thank you.

Okay, back to business, when I first logon to Lazada.my / Lazada.com.my, my first impression was that they are one of the neatest looking online store in Malaysia. We've been using Lelong.com.my or Lowyat.net forum for our trades most of the time, but we didn't have a quality webstore like this before. Everything is clear and you can easily navigate to the categories that interests you like computers & laptops, mobiles & tablets & etc. Best of all, signup is very fast and you get RM20 voucher off your next purchase. That was what first interested me in buying from Lazada.

The discount vouchers and promotions is one of the many reasons why so many people chose to buy from this website compared to other established website in the country. I almost forgot, they offer 14 days return policy too. So if you're not satisfied with the product or that you've bought the wrong item, fret not, as you can send them back and exchange for something else. I don't think they would refund your money in cash. Only store credits. Oh, in order for you to qualify for the return, you can't open the packaging. The packaging must be in the original state as you've got it.

So, I saw my Razer Deathadder selling at RM175 at Lazada, which is the cheapest price you can find on the Interenet (Malaysia), and by adding the RM20 voucher when you signup to their newsletter, it's about RM155 including FREE DELIVERY within Malaysia for the Deathadder which retails for RM189. The FREE DELIVERY is only for purchases above RM150. Do take note of this.

Purchasing the item was pretty easy, I regretted that I didn't print screen the whole purchasing process so that I can show you guys here, but anyways, trust me, it's easy, and since most of the popoular payment methods are available, purchasing easier than ever.

Credit cards and debit cards are accepted at no charges, and local bank online transfers, such as CIMBClick, Maybank2u, RHBnow, Hong Leong Bank, Alliance bank, AMbank and more. For those who prefer cash on delivery, you may do so, if you're in Klang Valley. Hope that they can expand this to a wider of area.

Okay after purchasing, I got an confirmation email that I have made the payment for item, and when I check my status, it says paid not shipped. The status has been the same for almost 3 days and I decided to email the customer support team.

The response time was quite okay, unlike what the other bloggers have mentioned, my experience was quite good actually. They responded me within 24 hours of time, answered everything I wanted clearly and gave me the tracking code that I requested. But IMO, they should give the buyers the tracking code as a standard procedure after sending the item. Not by giving them out only when customers requests for it.

It took me about 2-3 days to arrive my door but it was acceptable for me. Their GDex is pretty good compared to others like Skynet or Kangaroo. When I received the package, it was nicely packed like the picture below:

Upon unboxing, there were these little perforated foam protecting the box of the Razer Deathadder, just like a double protection for the mouse, which I really like!

You should get a invoice and returns slip like the picture below and thank you Lazada for the FREE Starbucks card with preloaded RM10 inside.

The overall picture of the packaging. Lazada, you guys did a very good job. Even the original plastic seal is still intact. Thank you for the fine experience!

Final conclusion

The experience was not that bad as mentioned by many users accross the web. The item was received in very good shape, the delivery time was acceptable, and the price was good. I think they should be given a second chance. I would definitely buy from them again if I have any good offers in the future like the RM50 voucher off recently offered for Starbucks customers (Expired). I hope they can keep this up and set an example for the online retailers out there.

  1. I tried to post this on their official facebook page, but it seems like they have removed it due to unknown reasons. Hmm.. Anyways..

  2. If you're counting on getting certain item with a dateline in mind, you should think twice before getting anything from LAZADA, particularly items which are a bit rare (e.g. camera accessories only real enthusiasts go for). Their postings can be inaccurate as in item being labeled as "in stock" and "delivered from 4-6 days" but after one week, the item has not even arrived in their warehouse. Such is my personal experience and God knows how this has affected my work as the item purchased was not for hobby.
